Employee Spotlight: Beth Walters

At R.E. Chaix & Associates, we strive to ensure that every employee is appreciated, acknowledged, and recognized for their achievements. This Employee Spotlight series aims to celebrate success and highlight the talented individuals we have at this company. Each quarter we’ll be featuring Chaix employees on our website, blog and social accounts.
Please join us in congratulating Beth Walters, our Employee Spotlight!
Beth entered the insurance industry in 1996, focusing on Professional Liability lines under the mentorship of Katie Freeman. Since joining R.E. Chaix in 2008, Beth has been a key member of the team, consistently delivering high-quality service. She values teamwork and collaboration — the cornerstones of exceptional client care — and takes pride in working alongside what she calls “the best team in the industry.” Outside of work, Beth enjoys traveling with her family to warm destinations such as Costa Rica and the Caribbean, and she has a deep love for animals, both domestic and wild.
“I have been fortunate enough to have Beth on my team for many years now. Beth is a wonderful co-worker who we all enjoy working with, including my retail agents. She is detail-oriented, organized, and extremely knowledgeable. She is my go-to for the most challenging of tasks. Beth is trustworthy, works very hard, and is a role model in the office as well as the professional liability industry.”
— Gloria McShane, Senior Broker and Beth’s direct supervisor

Q: What initially brought you to the insurance industry?
A: In 1996, I had just quit a dead-end job. A friend’s boss was looking for help, so I interviewed with Katie Freeman—with zero experience—and walked out with a job offer. The rest is history.
Q: In what ways do your background and experiences contribute to your success?
A: Loyalty. Before R.E. Chaix, I was with Katie Freeman Insurance Services until Katie merged with Chaix in 2008, and I’m still here. I work hard and do everything to the best of my ability. If I don’t know an answer, I find it. I’m 100 percent a team player and strive to make my team look good.

Q: Can you share a particularly challenging situation you faced and how you overcame it?
A: In April 2020, my grandson Aiden came to live with us and was suddenly learning remotely during 2nd grade. He was already three weeks behind. While adjusting to working from home, I also had to catch him up and learn his remote-learning process—lots of calls to the school and plenty of tears at home. By year’s end, he was caught up, and life got easier when he returned to in-person learning in 3rd grade. Five years later, Aiden is entering 8th grade, and we’ve found a routine that works.
Q: Describe your approach to teamwork in three words.
A: Loyal, Encouraging, Reliable—because they show each team member you’re truly there for them and for the team as a whole.

Q: Who has been your biggest influence or mentor?
A: My dad taught me to work hard with integrity, to do my best, and to be kind and compassionate. Professionally, Katie Freeman has mentored me from the start, teaching me to treat every client equally and always be respectful.
Q: Which accomplishment are you most proud of?
A: Honestly, this honor might be my biggest accomplishment. I prefer working in the background, nose to the grindstone, but hard work can be recognized and appreciated.
Q: What hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?
A: Traveling with my family and discovering new places.
